The question isn’t, what does your work mean to you. Better to ask what it means to the world.
Nothing beautiful can live in a vacuum; without a touch of external air, its meaning has little dimension and though we do love pretty, we want to go deeper.
Do you have the guts and gumption to give your heart to the eye of the beholder because that’s where your work will find meaning. Those who see your images should feel it too and when you’ve affected the life of another human with something YOU made… that’s some deep shit.
Show us your -esque, your -ing, and your -ish… a session that makes you so goddamn excited to be alive that glitter might burst from the tips of your magical fingers.
We at Babetown are fans of magic.
So… you’ve birthed this ethereal thing… let’s fucking see it!
We cordially request the favor of your full attention, aka, don’t be an asshole. Read the directions before you do anything. We know you’re excited and so are we, but for the sake of our sanity, read on…
Oh, and if you haven’t already, get your ass on over to our private Facebook group HERE.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Magic. We want pure fucking magic.
Photographs and videos with a cinematic film emulation, dark, moody tones, lifestyle and documentary work, or sessions that stir your gut.
Emotional. Gritty. Real As Fuck
- Empowering boudoir sessions
- Unique and emotional engagement or anniversary sessions
- Intimate elopements (under 10 guests)
- Moody day-after sessions
- Raw motherhood and newborn sessions
- Birth stories
- Maternity sessions
- Shoots to share new and fun ideas with our readers: we are looking for a distinct style, unique themes, or uncommon lifestyle/documentary photos
WE'RE JUST NOT INTO THESE:
- Highly male driven sessions (but we wouldn’t say no to a good dudeoir every once in a while)
- Tiny human solo sessions (babies sans mommies = sad face)
- Zoolander sessions (highly posed = ugly cry sad face)
- Cliche: We’ve all seen those Pinterest boards (#allthenope)
- Sears Portrait Sessions #imsorrySears
- No wedding receptions/event photography ( Bridal portraits and elopements are our jam. Send the other goodness to our favorites over at Junebug Weddings ect )
We’re not for everyone; we adore mossy haunted forests, cloudy, rain-soaked hair, and true grit. The excruciating beauty of a birth that inspires guttural tears or the romantic pull of a bride smirking with love at her beloved – the weird, the dreamy, and the shots that reveal life’s essence are what we want to see.
WHAT CAN A BABE DO TO STAND OUT?
You know what we want, but how do we like it? More of that -esque, -ing, and -ish.
Once upon a time: Photos and videos that tell a story, celebrate a milestone in the female experience, and push boundaries (and a few buttons, perhaps).
How would you like that cooked?: Raw, please. Intimate moments and raw emotion captured by your keen and creative eye.
Three cheers for: Creativity. Duh.
All women are created equal: Gorgeous women of all races, sizes, ages, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, and economic backgrounds. We want them all!
It’s not personal: Yes it fucking is. A love for the small, personal details makes for good shit.
Love conquers all: Damned be the naysayers, for true love lives… give us a session you’re madly in love with; something we can fall into and bask for a while.
Penmanship, please: The story is everything; at a minimum of 300 words, describe your shoot. Did it bring up feelings for you? Baggage, battles, or dreams? What meaning did it have for your client, how was the shoot special to them? And, the beholder… those of us who have the privilege of seeing your work. Why should we care, what will we see, and what meaning might we pull from the images you’ve decided to showcase?
All photos, both portrait and landscape, must be at least 1400PX wide. Anything submitted beyond this dimension (aka, larger) will be taken out behind the woodshed and laid to rest.
TO BE APPROVED, EACH SUBMISSION MUST CONTAIN A MINIMUM OF 30 IMAGES AND NO MORE THAN 50.
We truly think you’re rad for taking the time to submit your work with us. We work very hard to respond to each and every submission whether it’s accepted or declined. Please note that due to the vast number of submissions we receive on a daily basis, it may take our small team of Babes up to 10 days to review your submission, so no stalking or badgering.
You’ll receive a confirmation email once you’ve submitted the form.
**if you don’t receive a confirmation email, that means we didn’t receive your submission (and we don’t want to miss your brilliance)… Please check your submission, and submit again. If you don’t hear from us within 10 days, we encourage you to stalk us/follow up and check the status before submitting elsewhere.
WE’LL ALWAYS SEND YOU A YES OR NO, SO DON’T THINK WE’RE IGNORING YOU. WE LOVE YOU!
