TBC: WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT YOU PRIDE YOURSELF MOST ON WHEN RUNNING SQUAREMUSE?
SM: My pride and my team's pride comes from our clients' feedback. Knowing that our design kit improves their business, elevate their work, and also educate them in terms of Squarespace platform - this fills our work with purpose and motivation. We are proud of the incredibly talented individuals that trust us with their online presence.
TBC: WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
SM: Our team's inspiration comes from a variety of places. Our office is all white, which gives a space to the mind to wander off and explore inspiration intrinsically. At the same time we love to travel and I guess that really influences how we interact with the world and our clients. I myself have lived in Eastern Europe, China, UK, and USA. And our team is really diverse, speaking in total around 10 languages. VisuaLly our inspiration comes from our clients' work. Imagery and videography create an emotional reaction which we then in turn try to translate through design: using typography, colors, illustrations and patterns.
TBC: YOUR WEBSITE IS TRULY BREATHTAKING. HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR WEBSITE DESIGN WHEN YOU HAVE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL ONES TO OFFER?
SM: Our creative process is tailored to fit custom projects as well as creating themes/design kits. It's a process we use as well for our own site. Creating any visual communication starts with asking key questions: who? what? and why? So we asked ourselves who is our client, what kind of clients we want to attract and what we want to offer and why we are doing it. The last question is important as it really defines the core of our values as a brand. When we are clear on these questions our design team translates it to visual representation. Which you ca see on our site (soon to be updated, as we have grown in a year and matured as a brand as well), as well as on the sites of our custom clients.
TBC: WHAT REALLY EXCITES AND LIGHTS YOU UP ABOUT THE BUSINESS?
SM: Squaremuse is a product within a bigger company. Our sister company Flothemes is already established in the wedding photography market. So for me Squaremuse's potential is what really excites, as well as developing its own distinctive voice while keeping in line with anacquired aesthetic that Flothemes is also known to be. Squaremuse wouldn't be possible without an amazing team. People make brands - we hear it very often and as cliche as it sounds, it's true.
TBC: WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT SQUAREMUSE?
SM:Squaremuse has an extremely talented creative team behind it, and a knowledgeable development team focused on Squarespace platform. Most importantly I'd want people to know that we have been in the photography industry for a decade now, the knowledge of the market gives us an unparalleled understanding of the business.
TBC: WHERE DID THE NAME SQUAREMUSE COME FROM?
SM: We were playing with the Square part of Squarespace name. We wanted to have something distinctive but would also explain the company just through one name. So Square stands for the platform, and Muse for creativity and inspiration, that works in two folds: we are inspired by our clients and in turn we hope we inspire them by the work we do.
TBC: WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SO FAR?
SM: Besides offering beautiful design kits, we have managed this year to position ourselves within custom solutions on Squarespace. Working with brands like The Babetown Collective and The Good Trade has challenged us to expand our design knowledge and technical skills. I am proud to deliver an experience with our brand whether that is implementing the design kits on your own or working with our team on a custom solution.
TBC: ALL OF YOUR DESIGNS ARE GORGEOUS, WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL FAV AND WHY?
SM:I consult a lot our clients what design kit to choose, and there's a lot that goes into consideration: genre of images, type of client, positioning etc. Personally though I love Editorial. It is clean but yet editorial, and for me it's the most unusual design kit from the rest that we have created so far.
TBC: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT THE DESIGN PROCESS?
SM: Personally I love to work with our design team on a project in its exploring stage. That translation of ideas into design is where magic happens. Because as much as you can imagine it to be, when you see it visually in front of you or on your display, it touches you emotionally. We feel connected with our clients on a deeper level because through our design they see that we understand them, their photography and their business.
TBC: WHAT IS THE BIGGEST BENEFIT OF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION?

Funniest thing that happened to you yesterday...
I was in Italy on my way to a photography retreat. While at the supermarket I accidentally opened the emergency doors instead of the exit ones. And off went the alarm. I quickly closed the door back, I turn around and I see the supermarket worker just shaking hus head saying "no, no, no", kind of rolling his eyes at the silly tourists. One lesson learned: do not text and shop!

What do you do in your free time?
I run, as does most of our team. It's my meditation time.

I love serifs, so Lora, Playfair Display, Baskerville, Didot, are some of my favorites.
Cats or Dogs?
Cat person all the way!
Favorite 90's jam?
Spice Girls "Wanna be" - girl power all the way and goofing around while at it.
